Towards Nationwide Defence Against Scams and Financial Crime Powered by Mastercard

Scams are growing at an alarming rate, with AI-powered scams, deepfakes, and social engineering attacks becoming more sophisticated and harder to detect. Scammers are no longer operating in silos – they collaborate across borders, share stolen data in real time, and rapidly adapt their tactics using generative AI. In contrast, banks and financial institutions often operate within strict data privacy regulations, fragmented systems, and silo-ed intelligence, which limits their ability to respond swiftly and collectively. This session will highlight the importance of having a national scam utility and its crucial role in building trust and confidence in the country's economy.
