Dr. Vacharakoon Jivakanont

Vacharakoon is a senior financial sector specialist at the SEACEN Centre with over 20 years of expertise in the areas of payment and settlement systems.
Formerly serving as a director at the Bank of Thailand, where he has extensive experience ranging from policy development in payments, fintech, and cash management, to monetary policy, quantitative modeling, financial engineering, and corporate communication strategies. His international experience includes roles at the Bank of Korea's Payment and Settlement Systems Department and the Secretariat for the Committee on Payments and Market Infrastructures (CPMI) at the BIS, focusing on development in payments, digital innovations and cybersecurity.
Vacharakoon holds a master’s degree in economics from Waseda University, Japan, a master’s degree in financial risk management, and a Ph.D. in international capital markets from ICMA Centre, University of Reading, UK.
